“Blue cities”, “green cities”, “green urbanisation” — these urban design concepts are fuelled by a desire to implement natural solutions to urban and climatic challenges, and thus enhance the quality of life of people who call such locales home.

Green urbanisation and the building of green cities has the potential to yield numerous benefits for SA and its population. These include less pollution and more biodiversity, the reduction in traffic and stress that an uptake in the use of public transport offers, plus increased real estate values and safety. 

During for the next instalment of the FM Green Economy Dialogue series on October 18, the solutions needed to build a better living environment for urban dwellers will be discussed.

This hybrid event, held in partnership with the Gautrain Management Agency, Fibon Energy, JLL and the National Cleaner Production Centre of SA, will be hosted by news personality Nastassia Arendse.

Expert speakers include:

  • William Dachs, CEO of the Gautrain Management Agency;
  • Avesh Padayachee, founder and CEO of Fibon Energy; and
  • Louise Collins, JLL's head of engineering and energy: MEA and head of project and development services: UAE.
