What is Business Day?

Its website is part of BusinessLIVE, which showcases the best business content from Times Media's popular titles – Business Day, the Financial Mail, the Sunday Times's Business Times, the Rand Daily Mail and Investors Monthly – throughout the day along with live updates and breaking news published by our expert business newsroom.
What is BusinessLIVE Premium?
Much of BusinessLIVE is free to read, but BL Premium subscribers pay only R4 a day – that’s R120 a month – to access all our exclusive news articles, columns and commentary, along with Financial Times articles and Morningstar financial data.
For R349 a month, BL Premium Plus subscribers also enjoy full digital access to The Wall Street Journal and receive the Business Day and Financial Mail e-editions (digital replicas of the print editions).
How do I register on the Business Day website?
It’s free, quick and easy. Click on the “Register” button at the top of the website and follow the instructions. At the end of the registration process you’ll receive an email to welcome you to BusinessLIVE – of which Business Day forms part. You’ll also have the option to subscribe to BusinessLIVE Premium.
On your mobile phone, click on the menu bar at the top right and you’ll see the “Sign in” and “Register” options.
Why should I register on Business Day?
Registration is free. Once you’ve registered, you can comment on our articles and sign up for any from a range of useful email newsletters for all our business titles. You can also then manage your own newsletter subscriptions.
How do I sign in and out on Business Day?
To sign in, click on the “Sign in” button at the top of the website and enter your details. Once you’ve signed in, your name and surname will appear at the top of the site. To log out, hover over that area and click on the “Logout” prompt that appears.
If you’re on your mobile phone, click on the menu bar at the top right and choose the “Sign in” option at the top of the list that appears. To sign out, click on the menu bar again, scroll to the bottom and click on “Sign out”.
When you sign in on BusinessLIVE, Business Day, the Financial Mail or Rand Daily Mail, you’ll be signed in on all of these because they are all part of the BusinessLIVE website.
I can't register or log in. Who do I contact?
Contact our call centre at Tel: 0860 52 52 00 or email@example.com. The best time to phone is 6am–3.30pm SA time (GMT +2) on weekdays (email support until 8pm; 4pm on Fridays) or 6am–2pm on weekends.
I have registered but now I can’t sign in. What do I do?
Check that you’re entering the same email address that you used to register, and that you’ve got the correct password (see below how to reset your password). No luck? Contact our call centre at Tel: 0860 52 52 00 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
I want to change my password. What do I do?
First, sign out of Business Day. Then sign on again but when you’re prompted to enter your details, click on “Forgot your password?” and we’ll send you an email with a link that will allow you to enter a new one.
I already subscribe to the print edition of Business Day or the Financial Mail. Do I get free access to BusinessLIVE?
Yes, you do. Business Day print subscribers get access to our BusinessLIVE Premium package, which means they can read all our articles on BusinessLIVE, Business Day, the Financial Mail and Rand Daily Mail, along with daily Financial Times articles and Morningstar financial data and full digital access to The Wall Street Journal.
Financial Mail print subscribers also get access to the BusinessLIVE Premium package but without access to The Wall Street Journal.
To gain access, please register online (see above for details) using the same email address you supplied when subscribing to the print edition. That allows us to link your subscription correctly.
If you’ve already registered online using a different email address, you can either register again with your other email address, which will automatically pick up your print subscription, or contact our call centre at Tel: 0860 52 52 00 or email@example.com to change your print subscription details to match your online registration.

How do I subscribe to Business Day/BusinessLIVE Premium online?
If you haven’t yet registered on Business Day, which is part of the BusinessLIVE website, click on the “Register” button at the top of the website (on your mobile phone, click on the menu bar at the top right to find the “Register” option) and follow the instructions. At the end of the registration process you’ll have the option to subscribe. We’ll show you our range of subscription packages, you pick one and provide your payment details.
If you’ve already registered as a user, simply click here to view to the various subscription packages and make your choice.
Why should I subscribe to Business Day/BusinessLIVE Premium online?
Great journalism is expensive to produce. While newspaper publishers depend heavily on advertising revenue, that is not enough to let us bring you all the trustworthy, quality reporting you need. We’ve worked hard to give you lots of value through a BusinessLIVE subscription, and your support means we’re able to keep bringing you South Africa’s best business writing – and even expand what we do.
We’ve also added plenty of content and data from our international partners, The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times and Morningstar, into our subscription packages to offer you even more value alongside our top-notch local content. Individual subscriptions to those international titles would cost you more than R1,000 a month, yet our packages cost only R120 or R349 a month.

How do I change my name, surname or email address on Business Day?
Once you’ve registered and signed in, your name and surname will appear at the top right of the website. Hover the mouse over your name and click the “Profile” button. (On your mobile phone, click on the menu bar at the top right to find the “Profile” option.)
On your profile, you can edit your name and surname or manage your email newsletter subscriptions.
Unfortunately you cannot change your email address via your profile page. If you’re a registered user but haven’t subscribed, please sign out and register again using your new email address.
If you’ve already subscribed to one of our BL Premium packages, please sign out and register again using your new email address. Then contact our call centre at Tel: 0860 52 52 00 or firstname.lastname@example.org to connect your subscription to your new account.
How do reader comments on Business Day/BusinessLIVE work?
Readers who have registered and signed in on Business Day (and therefore BusinessLIVE) can use the comment facility below our articles. These comments are managed via a reliable service called Disqus that is used on many other websites too.
Your BusinessLIVE Disqus profile is created when you register on our website. It does not pick up details from any previous Disqus profiles you might have. Your name and surname will be displayed with all your comments.
What are cookies and why do I need them to use Business Day?

How do I sign up for Business Day email newsletters?
When you register at no cost on the Business Day website, which is part of BusinessLIVE, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to receive any of our email newsletters. Once you’ve registered, you can also manage your newsletter subscriptions via your user profile – after signing in, hover over your name at the top right of the website and click on the “Profile” button. (On your mobile phone, click on the menu bar at the top right to find the “Profile” option.)
I've signed up for a Business Day email newsletter but it has not arrived in my inbox. What do I do?
Check your junk mail or rejected mail folder in case your mail server rejected the newsletter. If that is what happened, try to adjust your mail settings. If you haven't received it at all, email us at email@example.com.
How do I unsubscribe from the Business Day email newsletter?
Click on the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the newsletter you’ve received in your inbox, or sign in on the Business Day website and update your newsletter subscriptions list via your user profile – hover over your name at the top right of the website and click on the “Profile” button. (On your mobile phone, click on the menu bar at the top right to find the “Profile” option.)
Is there a Business Day app?
Yes, there is. The Business Day app has articles, video, a sleek design and fast load times to keep you informed while you're on the move. It works on mobile phones and tablets.
Download it for free on Apple’s App Store or the Google Play store. At present the app only features free content from the Business Day websites but soon it will offer our full range of content to BL Premium subscribers too.

How do I submit an opinion piece?
We do not publish opinion pieces already sent to other newspapers. Submitting an uncommissioned opinion piece is no guarantee that it will be published and we reserve the right to edit all opinion pieces. Email your opinion piece to firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I submit a press release or story suggestion?
Email your press release or story idea to email@example.com. It will then be evaluated by our news desk. (We don’t publish press releases but they are considered for use in news reports or features.)
How do I report an error on the Business Day website?
Let us know if you spot any errors, big or small, so that we can correct them. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with a link to the article and explain the problem clearly and concisely.
