Members of newly established integrity committee not yet told of powers and mandate, writes Stephen Grootes THE African National Congress (ANC) said this week that its national executive committee had appointed a group of "veterans" to its newly established integrity committee, which is expected to investigate claims of corruption against party members.However, it appears that members of the integrity committee are still unsure about what its actual role will be.When contacted for comment on its role and powers, committee chairman MP Andrew Mlangeni said he had "only heard about it on the television" and was aware that some "other people have also been appointed as members".Another member of the committee, former National Assembly speaker Frene Ginwala, confirmed her own appointment, but had not been told how the body will function and what powers it will have.While Mr Mlangeni has recently been in hospital, it seems slipshod of the ANC’s machinery to make public this announcement w...
