It seems Golovkin’s bio-rthythms were slightly off at that stage of his career, because from September 2007 to June the following year he was taken the distance three times, all over eight rounds. Nearly eight years later they remain the only points wins in his record of 33-0 (30 KOs). Future opponents being mooted for Golovkin are Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez. But the one guy many fans would like to see is counter-punching marvel Floyd Mayweather — and that’s the one fight they are most likely not going to see.
