Water Affairs and Sanitation Minister Nomvula Mokonyane on Wednesday announced the establishment of up a task team to review tenders in her department, following allegations of maladministration.Mokonyane said the review would be conducted by a team led by Terry Motau SC, and would look at contacts the department had awarded from June 1 2014 to date, and those concluded before June 1 2014 but were still running.The minister made the announcement at a briefing in her office in Pretoria on Wednesday.Earlier this year, City Press reported that in 2014, three companies were awarded a R502m tender to improve the water supply to the entire Mopani District Municipality, but that the area still suffered water shortages.On Wednesday, Mokonyane said Motau would conclude the review in six months’ time, but would provide her with preliminary reports as the inquiry unfolded.As part of the review, the task team will also determine the value for money for the concluded contracts, check that they c...
