The roaring Mercedes-AMG C63 has now arrived in SA, writes Mark Smyth I HAVE always been a fan of the Mercedes C-Class AMG models. I still lust over the original 190 Evo and when I saw one parked at the new Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy at the Zwartkops race track I almost did not care that I was actually there to drive the new AMG C63.When the last generation was launched, I found myself with a few hours to kill in the Black Forest region of Germany before a flight. A colleague from another publication and I convinced the AMG people to let us hold onto the car for those hours and the fact that we gave it back still astonishes me. On that afternoon we charged through the forest on some of the best back roads imaginable, even having to refill the tank at one point so we could carry on creating a noise that vibrated the tarmac and shook the leaves from the trees.It was not just the sound that made it so amazing.
