ANC Gauteng chairman Paul Mashatile retains his post at party’s 12th provincial elective conference, while province’s premier David Makhura is re-elected deputy chair PRETORIA — ANC Gauteng chairman Paul Mashatile has retained his post at the party’s 12th provincial elective conference in Pretoria, while the province’s premier David Makhura was re-elected deputy chair.The announcement was made on Friday night, African National Congress spokesman Zizi Kodwa said in a statement.This was a day earlier than scheduled, and the party did not explain the reasons behind it.Mr Kodwa said all the positions of the provincial officials were uncontested.Mr Mashatile, the former arts and culture minister, was booted out of Cabinet when President Jacob Zuma announced a reshuffle in May.He was replaced by Nathi Mthethwa who was moved from the police ministry.Mr Mashatile, an outspoken former Gauteng premier has maintained a hardline stance on e-tolling in the province.At the conference of Friday, h...
