Contesting the R400,000 Joburg Spring Challenge
HIGHVELD punters get their chance to see Durban July victor The Conglomerate when the Aussie-bred contests the R400,000 Joburg Spring Challenge (grade2) at Turffontein on Saturday.Trainer Joe Ramsden’s Greyville winner has the Sansui Summer Cup as his main objective and has also been nominated for next month’s Emperors Palace Charity Mile.Ramsden’s assistant, Alson Ndzilana, said Saturday’s trip of 1,450m would be too short and it looked significant that Piere Strydom, the winning jockey in the July, would not be in the saddle.The ride has been entrusted to Donovan Dillon.However, Ramsden still has a very real chance of taking top honours with St Tropez, who caught the eye when fourth behind Bulleting Home on his seasonal reappearance.
