ANC MEMBERS protesting outside the party’s headquarters in Johannesburg on Monday were threatened and intimidated, forcing them to scale down the size of their demonstration, as angry members of the Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) insisted they would not get near the building. The protesters want President Jacob Zuma to be recalled and the entire national executive committee (NEC) to resign for failing to take action against him. ANC members have cited controversy surrounding Zuma as one of the reasons for the party’s decline in support in the August local government elections.
