ORGANISERS of the march to the ANC’s Luthuli House headquarters have decided to call it off for “security reasons”.There was a heavy police presence outside Luthuli House in the Johannesburg CBD where members, wanting President Jacob Zuma and his entire national executive committee to resign, were expected to converge.Police barbed wire had been set up around the premises.There were South African Polices Service (SAPS) officers‚ metro police, private security and uniformed Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans’ Association cadres.“We have decided to call it off, will only be there to address few supporters who would not have received our massage, they have brought people who are drunk to come and confront our peaceful protesters and others are armed,” said one of the organisers, Collen Chauke.“So we have decided to call it off due to security reasons.”Last week, organisers said they were expecting between 2,000 and 3,000 people to attend the “Occupy Luthuli House” march, but on Monday ...
