Americans generally do not seem to be hugely excited about any of the presidential candidates. From a foreign perspective, however, Hillary Clinton would surely spell continuity and business as usual. In contrast, Donald Trump would bring uncertainty. The world is already nervous about his candidacy, as are many Americans.The US has always been an open country where immigrants could live their dream. With the changing demographics, where African-Americans, Hispanics and other immigrants have weakened the power base of specifically the Republican Party, Trump plays on fears.The US presidential debates reflected the state of the nation. None of the candidates managed inspirational performances; the standing of the US has taken a knock.
