Communications Minister Faith Muthambi has backed the SABC decision not to advertise controversial Hlaudi Motsoeneng’s current job, saying there was no need to do so. The DA asked why Motsoeneng’s post of corporate affairs group executive and his former post as chief operating officer were filled without being advertised. Asked in writing by DA MP Phumzile van Damme if the posts were advertised externally before the appointments of Motsoeneng and Bessi Tungwana as chief operating officer Muthambi said no. Her written parliamentary response came a day after parliament’s ad hoc committee investigating the SABC met for the first time. Muthambi is on the list of witnesses who will testify at the inquiry.
