Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan will have his work cut out for him when he takes to the podium to deliver the medium-term budget policy statement on Wednesday. A number of organisations and individuals have released their wish lists to the minister. South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Alan Mukoki said the first thing the chamber expected from Gordhan was to ensure that more infrastructure development projects were concluded in order to close the gap between expenditure and delivery. "We would like government to deal decisively with those who roll over budgets. That’s almost a criminal act because in that event jobs are not being created and people who can create them are waiting with documentation," Mukoki said. Cosatu parliamentary co-ordinator Matthew Parks said his organisation expected more clarity on National Health Insurance. It would like the freeze on public service vacancies to be reconsidered and the government should look at eliminating irregular expenditur...
