The DA called on Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan to introduce structural reforms to assist the economy on Wednesday in his medium-term budget policy statement. Its suggestions included partially privatising unprofitable SA Airways. Three of the official opposition party’s MPs said in a briefing that Gordhan had an opportunity to kick-start economic growth with measures such as providing for strike ballots to reduce industrial action and increase private-sector investment in state owned enterprises.
