The Guptas will oppose Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan’s court application, describing it as an "abuse of process". Gordhan lodged an application in the High Court in Pretoria on Friday for a declaratory order stating that he cannot intervene in a dispute between the Gupta-owned Oakbay Investments and four major banks, that closed the company’s accounts. Gupta family attorney Gert van der Merwe on Tuesday described the application to the high court as "undiluted nonsense" and a "political game". He said it was an abuse of process and it was unnecessary for Gordhan to have approached the court, since there was no dispute between parties on the minister’s legal obligations. The family said it was "delighted" at the application by the minister and looked forward to clearing its name in court.
