A review by PwC of embattled sugar producer Tongaat Hulett's financials has revealed that it will have to restate its 2018 accounts, which could have a R4.5bn impact.

The company said in a statement on Friday that "past practices appear to have resulted in financial statements that did not reflect Tongaat Hulett's underlying business performance accurately".
