THE signs are not good when Neil Tovey compares the current Bafana Bafana squad with the side he captained to the African Nations Cup title at home in 1996.South Africa will once again host the continental showpiece — from January 19 to February 10 — but Tovey says there are big differences between increasingly pressured coach Gordon Igesund’s charges and Clive Barker’s triumphant squad.Tovey says Barker’s side had a confident aura about them and went into the 1996 tournament with an impressive run of results.The same cannot be said about the current squad."Our results were top results (before the 1996 event)," he says."We won the Four Nations tournament that we had — we drew 1-1 with Argentina, and we drew 0-0 against Germany. So our results were very, very good leading up to the 1996 African Nations Cup.
