A mass resignation of Cabinet ministers, who supported a motion for President Jacob Zuma to step down, would have serious consequences, ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe said on Tuesday. However, he said the party was not anticipating the resignations. "Mass resignations would have serious consequences," he said, without elaborating. Mantashe said leaders were not pulled together by their "conscience" but by the tasks they had to perform for the ANC.
