ANC Western Cape chairman Marius Fransman has resigned from the legislature but not from the party. The party’s provincial executive committee called two weeks ago for his suspension and this weekend he faces party disciplinary procedures relating to allegations that he sexually harassed his personal assistant early this year. On Thursday he suffered a comprehensive defeat in the Cape Town High Court, where Judge Nolwazi Boqwana dismissed the case he brought against the speaker of the Western Cape legislature and the chairman of its standing committee on public accounts.
