THE South African Communist Party (SACP) in KwaZulu-Natal is opposed to any cabinet reshuffling ahead of local government elections, but has agreed to "release" its provincial secretary, Themba Mthembu, so that he can serve as the province’s agriculture and rural development MEC.A provincial Cabinet reshuffle was announced on Monday morning, and among the newly appointed MECs was Mthembu.However, the SACP said the announcement was made prematurely as Mthembu had asked for 24 hours to consult his party before accepting the job."We have noted with dismay that despite the ANC having agreed on giving us the time requested to consult our structures, it, however, proceeded with making a pronouncement on this very serious matter," it said.This had apparently caused confusion within the party structures, in communities in the province and nationally.As part of the reshuffle, arts, culture, sports and recreation MEC Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha was replaced by Bongi Sithole Moloi, and agri...
