The finalists for the South African Politicians Awards 2017 were recently announced. You, like Homer Simpson, might well ask: "The bees are in the what now?" Well, if you haven’t heard of the awards  before, the event is run by a company called Ngavu Enterprises and the brainchild of someone called Lloyd Ngavu. Ngavu told 702 radio he saw a "marketing opportunity" when he attended the state of the nation address and wanted to give recognition to those politicians who were "doing great things" in our country. He must have been watching a address to everyone else. The one on TV was a chaotic circus. You can buy a table for the event, although quite how much one costs the website does not say. Interviewing Ngavu, 702’s talk show host Redi Tlhabi was at pains to drive home the point that the event was for profit and Ngavu’s financial benefit.
