MONDAY is not most people’s favourite day, and strangely enough, that applies even to Easter Monday, despite its being a public holiday in most countries that follow Christian traditions.According to timeanddate.com, this stems from the number of military battles that have historically been fought on the day after Easter, with great loss of life — presumably because thou shalt not kill over the Easter weekend. Easter Monday is still known as Black or Bloody Monday in much of Europe as a result.But it’s not all doom and gloom.There are some quirky traditions associated with Easter Monday that The Insider feels should be revived.In medieval England, timeanddate.com informs us, "women were allowed to haul out of bed any man they found there". Even the English kings Edward I and Edward II were subjected to this ordeal.It was also traditional for men to lift women three times by the arms and legs in northern England on Easter Monday, with the women returning the favour the following day....
