There were “no extenuating circumstances that would support a decision … not to recommend that the National Assembly resolve to call for the removal” of judges Western Cape High Court judge president John Hlophe and retired judge Nkola Motata.
This was the finding of the reports adopted by the justice portfolio committee on Thursday, which recommended a vote in the National Assembly for the removal of both judges after receiving argument from both judges why the committee should recommend otherwise. ..
