The inquiry into state capture at Eskom, Denel and Transnet by the public enterprises committee is facing headwinds in the form of a threatened lack of resources from Parliament for it to employ an evidence leader, which all political parties agree is essential for an effective inquiry. On the other hand, the mineral resources committee has been accused of dragging its feet in initiating an inquiry into state capture allegations against Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane. On Wednesday the meetings of the two committees raised concern over delays in initiating parliamentary inquiries into state capture, which National Assembly house chairperson Cedric Frolick instructed several committees to undertake.
