Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan expects to finalise the process of appointing a new CEO for troubled state-owned South African Airways (SAA) by the end of the month. Musa Zwane has been acting CEO since November 2015 and Gordhan believes a permanent CEO is necessary for the formulation of the airline’s corporate plan for the next three years. The absence of a permanent CEO has been cited as one of the issues contributing to the instability of the airline under controversial chairwoman Dudu Myeni, who has been at loggerheads with the Treasury.
