Gauteng still offers professionals the best salaries, study finds
The Career Junction review found that in some professions, the higher salaries in Gauteng could be attributed to its higher demand for skills
Gauteng still offers the best salaries to people employed in a number of professions‚ according to staff recruitment agency Career Junction’s latest salary review. The review contains up-to-date salary information and regional differences in actual salary offerings for skilled and senior level candidates in the 10 of the most popular job sectors‚ including finance‚ ICT and engineering. The salary offerings‚ which represent monthly "cost to company" remuneration‚ were on the Career Junction website between April and October this year. In the engineering field‚ senior civil engineers were being offered R48,142 to R62,637‚ senior mechanical engineers R46,816 to R57,287 and senior electronic engineers R39,306 to R52,745. Salaries were considerably lower in the Western Cape than in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. "This could possibly be due to a lower demand for skills in the Western Cape," the study noted.
