Julius Malema described reports that he had been arrested on Monday morning as "absolute nonsense". However, his driver has been taken into custody. Broadcaster ENCA posted the following tweet: "#JuliusMalema and his driver are currently at a police station in the Free State after they were caught speeding this morning." ENCA had earlier tweeted: "#Malema caught speeding on way to court"‚ while its presenters said they were stopped after being clocked driving at 187km/h. The EFF leader‚ however‚ himself tweeted: "The report[s] that I’m arrested for speeding are absolute nonsense‚ I will be at the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court this morning for Land." Free State police spokesperson Nako Ramatso later told ENCA that the driver had been arrested and would be charged‚ while Malema continued on his way to Bloemfontein.
