THE DA-run Beaufort West municipality is facing a cash crunch that is hampering service provision.The town, once run by former ANC mayor Truman Prince, a controversial figure, has a population of 50,000 people and runs on a R320m budget.The cash flow problem has affected basic services such as waste removal, water and sanitation, and infrastructure maintenance.The DA, which recently wrested control of the municipality after the August 3 local government elections, blames the previous ANC-led administration for the situation in SA’s oldest municipality.Concerns of corruption and financial irregularities have been raised in the past and the DA administration says it is investigating some of the allegations.
