HAWKS spokesman McIntosh Polela has been suspended just weeks after making controversial comments on social network Twitter about convicted murderer Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye and prison rape.The South African Police Service and its special investigative unit, the Hawks, on Thursday confirmed the suspension but remained tightlipped on the charges and the disciplinary process.Mr Polela has become the face of the elite unit over the past few years and is often quoted in the media on cases under investigation.However, he courted criticism when he made offensive remarks on his personal Twitter account last month."I can confirm that Mr Polela has been suspended but I can’t comment at all on the merits of the case.
