While car makers around the world are frantically working on future technology, they are also realising that they have a whole load of older cars out there. Luxury brands such as Aston Martin and Bentley have had classic or heritage divisions for years, which look after older cars, provide parts and even conduct full restorations. It is not just the preserve of the luxury or exotic brands either — BMW Classic in Munich, Germany, caters for older and classic Beemers, although mainly for German and European markets. Potential Now BMW SA has decided this classic business actually has potential. It’s a far cry from the 1990s when the former MD of the local operation decided that the company’s museum collection of cars were just gathering dust and should be sold off. "Nein!" I hear you say.
