It was the penultimate race of the 2016 World Endurance Championship (WEC), the six hours of Shanghai, in China this past weekend where the season’s LMP1 and LMP2 class championships were also concluded. The LMP1 class race saw the team of Webber-Hartley-Bernhard (Porsche 919 hybrid) take the top step on the podium. They were followed in second by the team of Kobayashi-Sarrazin-Conway (Toyota Gazoo TS040 hybrid), while the team of Buemi-Nakajima/Davidson (Toyota Gazoo TS040 Hybrid) finished in third spot. The result made Porsche the World Champions once again. The sports car brand from Stuttgart with the Le Mans Prototype Porsche 919 hybrid secured the manufacturers’ title one race before the finale in Bahrain in late November.
