RHODES Food Group has entered into a spicy deal that will see it acquire Durban-based Pakco for R200m. Pakco is a manufacturer of spices, condiments, instant meals and complementary products. The company packs and distributes bottled and canned foods under its own brands and private label. Some of its brands include Bisto, Trotters and Hinds, Gold Dish and Pakco spices and pickles. Rhodes’ board of directors said the acquisition presented an attractive investment opportunity which was aligned with the company’s strategy of expanding its business operations through value accretive acquisitions.
