CHEMICALS group Rolfes on Monday reported a 78% jump in pretax profit to R109m in the year to June from the year-earlier period.The black economic empowerment (BEE) group manufactures and distributes a range of chemical and organic products.Revenue was up was 20% to R1.36bn and headline earnings jumped 91% to R79m.The small-cap company said the acquisition of Bragan Chemicals in the year under review boosted the financial performance.Bragan is an importer and distributor of speciality products in the food and beverage, bakery, dairy, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.Momentum SP Reid Securities analyst Percy Takunda sad in a note in August that "the addition of Bragan Chemicals will be value accretive offsetting some ‘probable’ flat results from the agricultural division".Operating profit in the agricultural division declined to R37.33m, from R40.77m in the year-earlier period.Rolfes said it expected further growth in earnings in the year ahead, despite the challenging operati...
