THERE have been no reports of a breach of point-of-sale credit card systems used in most fast-food franchises in SA.The South African Banking Risk Information Centre (Sabric) on Monday said it had been made aware of reports that hackers had breached computer systems at Oracle‚ including a customer support portal for companies using Micros point-of-sale credit card systems.Micros is used by numerous chains‚ including KFC‚ Steers‚ Nando’s‚ Wimpy‚ Mugg & Bean‚ News Café‚ Primi Piatti and Woolworths.Oracle issued a letter to Micros customers on August 8 saying it had detected and addressed malicious code in certain legacy Micros systems."To prevent recurrence‚ Oracle implemented additional security measures for the legacy Micros systems. Consistent with standard security remediation protocols‚ Oracle is requiring Micros customers to change the passwords for all Micros accounts‚" Oracle said.Oracle has not published details about the cause.Sabric said it had been made aware of the breach...
