The National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) is waiting for a date to be given by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to submit argument that all staff at PetroSA receive a bonus this year — not only top managers who received bonuses of millions of rand despite a loss of R14.5bn at the firm. The Sunday Times reported that 11 bosses at the state-owned company received bonuses totalling more than R17m. Workers at the company have flocked to Numsa to continue their campaign for bonus parity at PetroSA, ditching the Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers Union (Ceppwawu) in droves. The former Ceppwawu chairman at PetroSA, Zolani Tyatya, who is now the Numsa chairman at PetroSA, said it would be inconsistent to give the bosses a huge bonus during difficult times for the company while other staff members received no bonus at all.
