Twenty-seven agencies across eight size and speciality categories make it on to the 2016 AdFocus agency of the year shortlist.

Chaired by jury leader Craig Page-Lee, judges deliberated for two days under the eye of auditing partner Deloitte. Jury members voted in a secret ballot for the winners — including the overall agency of the year — who will be announced on November 23.

In the large agency category, the finalists are FCB Johannesburg, Joe Public, M&C Saatchi Abel and Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town.

Medium-size category finalists are: Avatar, Havas Worldwide, Net#work BBDO, OFyt and The Jupiter Drawing Room Cape Town.

The small agency category will be contested by FoxP2 Cape Town, House of Brave, Openco and Riverbed. In the media agency category, Alphabet Soup competes with Initiative Media, Mediology, PhD and The Mediashop.

Specialist agency of the year finalists are Actuate, Demographica, Grid and Playmakers.

A new public relations agency category has three contenders: Burson-Marsteller, Engage Joe Public and Ogilvy PR.

Hello Computer and Native VML are on the digital agency shortlist.

Partnership of the year finalists are FCB Johannesburg and Toyota, King James and Santam, M&C Saatchi Abel and Heineken, and The Hardy Boys and SA Home Loans.
