A new free online and mobile tool, Ramify.biz, has been launched to help connect SA brands and marketers to ad agencies.

Media writer Herman Manson, who owns and edits Marklives, a website, is behind the project. He says though there are databases containing this kind of agency information, they all sit behind walls. “Agencies either pay to be listed directly or indirectly or marketers pay to access the database through third-party pitch consultants.” Nowhere, he says, is there a comprehensive database of agencies that is freely available and accessible to marketers and agencies, built specifically for agency search and selection.

“We are disrupting these closed environments and democratising the information they contain. We believe all agencies, big and small, should be able to list their information in a central resource, and that marketers should be able to access it free of charge.

Ramify.biz makes use of a “freemium” revenue model. While the listing for agencies and agency suppliers is free of charge, for an annual fee of R11,200/year a company news office service and portfolio can be added. Manson says Ramify.biz has been running in a live beta form since early June and already has 137 listings.
