Former public protector Thuli Madonsela’s report on state capture has been handed to her successor Busisiwe Mkhwebane. Parliament, to which the report was sent for safekeeping after a legal challenge to stop it being made public, has confirmed that the report was sent to Mkhwebane. Madonsela was due to release the report on Friday‚ the last day of her seven-year nonrenewable term as public protector‚ but could not as Co-operative Governance Minister Des van Rooyen and President Jacob Zuma launched urgent applications before the High Court in Pretoria to prevent its publication. Their applications will be heard on November 1.
