The National Development Plan (NDP) opens with these words: "Now in 2030 we live in a country which we have remade. We have created a home where everybody feels free yet bounded to others; where everyone embraces their full potential. We are proud to be a community that cares." This is the magnificent planning document that seeks to build the new, beautiful and prosperous nation that we ought to be. Sadly, it lies gathering dust in the cabinets of officialdom while those tasked with making it happen are stuffing their own pockets at the expense of the people. In between the looting, they fight among themselves to protect their respective places at the dinner table.The country we snatched from race-based civil strife and destruction in 1994 is anything but one where everyone will embrace their full potential in 2030.
