OVER 300 households in the Limpopo Province were connected to the electricity network for the first time on Friday. The "switch on" took place in Bela-Bela and Mookgopong as part of government’s electrification programme aimed at improving the quality of life of all South Africans‚ the electricity parastatal said on Saturday. "Together with Department of Energy (DoE)‚ Eskom has connected more than 4.6 million households to the national grid since 1991. According to the latest Statistics South Africa report‚ access to electricity has increased from 35% of households in 1990 to over 90% in 2016‚" Eskom said.
