For those who’ve been watching the machinations in South African cricket, the pasting that the Proteas took in Australia was predictable. The question is, can it be fixed?

The grim truth is that were it not for persistent rain over the Sydney Cricket Ground last week, the Proteas would have lost, rather than drawn, the third Test against Australia.
In the end, the draw meant Pat Cummins’ Australia took the Test series 2-0 after a six-wicket victory in Brisbane and an innings and 182-run win in Melbourne. But it should have been 3-0, which would have been a fairer reflection of the deep one-sidedness of the contest...
