An investment of $4bn (just over R75bn) announced on Monday by Amazon Web Services (AWS) into Anthropic, one of the hottest artificial intelligence (AI) start-ups in the world, has set the scene for the next phase in the generative AI race, kicked off by OpenAI’s ChatGPT last November.
AWS will become Anthropic’s cloud computing provider and the start-up will have access to the cloud giant’s full compute infrastructure — the services that provide processing power in the cloud...
