A massive task faces SA Rugby’s new president Mark Alexander, and he has to hit the ground running to make a difference before the next Saru elections in 2018
Incoming SA Rugby (Saru) president Mark Alexander admits he is taking the helm in trying times for the rugby governing body. The new Saru boss‚ who replaces Oregan Hoskins who quit two months ago‚ and his executive council will have to hit the ground running to ensure Saru turns the corner and resumes its rightful place as one of the most efficient sports bodies in the country for the duration of his tenure which ends at the next Saru elections in 2018. Alexander takes the reins as the Springboks‚ once the darlings of SA sport‚ face trying times after a few unimpressive years since the reign of ex-coach Heyneke Meyer and into coach Allister Coetzee’s reign, which began earlier in the year. There is a long list of other short-term issues that Alexander and Co must deal with to ensure the successful running of the body.
