Welcome Aboard Gautrain!

Gautrain operates across Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni and connects to the OR Tambo international Airport. A fleet of Gautrain buses service over twenty bus routes that provide access to nine of our ten stations (Or Tambo Excluded) Parking and drop off facilities are available at all stations, except for the Or Tambo International airport station. In addition, a midi bus service provides an additional shuttle service along select routes, with 98.16% average punctuality the Gautrain is one of the most reliable passenger train service in the world an achievement we are exceptionally proud of.

The Gautrain Rapid Rail Link is the first rapid rail network in Africa that links Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane it includes a designated link to the OR Tambo International Airport in the Gauteng Province. The total route, which includes ten stations and 80 km of track, is available seven days a week between 05:05 and 20:30. To accommodate airport passengers, this service is operational between 04:50 and 21:04.

The use of reloadable smart cards, the swift Card, ensures a safe cash-free ticketing system and makes travelling on the Gautrain quick and convenient. Passengers can buy their swift Cards at any Gautrain station or approved service outlets. The integrated ticketing system allows the passenger to pay for their train rides, bus rides and parking with a single card.   Buses and midibuses are available weekdays to transport passengers to and from all stations excluding the OR Tambo station.

The Service offers a fast, convenient, safe and efficient public transport service.  It takes 15 minutes to travel from Sandton to OR Tambo International Airport on the Gautrain and 35 minutes from Pretoria in Tshwane to Park Station in Johannesburg.
