There is no question that he and his family business interests were entangled in such a way that he was compromised. Two revelations demonstrated how deep this entanglement ran. The deputy minister of finance, Mcebisi Jonas, revealed that the Guptas had offered him the position of finance minister, an extraordinary breech of Zuma's responsibility to hire and fire ministers. And Themba Maseko revealed how he was removed from his position as government spokesman after he failed to humour the Guptas.
