I was at the end of an hour and a half run/walk, climbing the last uphill stretch, breathing heavily, sweat pouring off my red face. My damp hair was stuck to my forehead. A man walking his dog came towards me, a man who was not old, but not young. His was a gentle pace. His long grey hair was pulled back and caught up in a knot, a man bun, at the back of his head. He wore white wide bottomed cotton pants covered with black Ohm signs, and a white T-shirt adorned with a yellow sun.His dog, an unusually skinny Labrador called Shanti (I wondered if the slender Shanti was a vegetarian) had a red bandanna around its neck. Shanti’s lead was a piece of multi-coloured fabric woven with tiny round bells so there was a gentle tinkling as he moved. It was early morning, dew still on the grass.
