Thousands of EFF supporters were met by riot police outside the Union Buildings in Tshwane, where they marched to demand that President Jacob Zuma steps down. They had a standoff with police as they demanded entry to the premises. Police formed a shield inside the gate, and dispersed the crowd using rubber bullets, stun grenades and water canon. Journalists and photographers were caught in the crossfire‚ and had to duck for cover‚ dodging rocks and rubber bullets on Madiba Street. This occurred before the EFF leadership could arrive.
