The University of the Witwatersrand is forging ahead with its academic programme‚ saying all tests‚ lectures and university activities went ahead without disruption on Wednesday. However, the institution revealed that a fire was started at the library on the Wits Education Campus‚ in Parktown‚ on Thursday morning. Some books in one aisle were burnt. The fire was extinguished and Wits security and the police were on the scene to investigate. The institution apologised to all affected students. Despite this‚ the university announced that the academic programme would continue on Thursday.
