Despite exhortations by the president to free up analogue signals for broadband, the minister is preoccupied

Finally, SA has started its long overdue transition of analogue television signals from a range of spectrum that is considered so valuable it is known as the "digital dividend". The global deadline for this switchover, to allow these frequencies to be used by the cellular industry, was June 2015. Yes, we are six years late.
SA is a signatory to the UN International Telecommunications Union’s convention to free up this spectrum...
