By the time Apple revealed its 10th-anniversary iPhone X smartphone last week, there were few surprises. Perhaps more than anything else, the rampant leaks that precede an Apple event are the major difference from the Steve Jobs years. None of the key iPhone X features were unknown. The bezel and home key were gone. In came wireless charging (using the Qi standard) and facial recognition (instead of the fingerprint reader) to unlock the phone. None of these features are groundbreaking. Samsung launched Qi wireless charging years ago, and dropped the bezel on its Galaxy S8 launch this year. Huawei pioneered the dual camera (from Leica) and seemingly made the selfie camera hip before other makers.
